Taking Control of the Dog and Stock guides you through the process of how to build a language using basic commands, presented in two parts: Part 1. Taking Control of the DOG guides you through the importance of teaching a dog to understand what the handler wants in a way to gain control and respect of the dog. Part 2. Taking Control of the STOCK helps you to understand how to recognize how a dog can use its instinct to gain control and respect of the stock. In order for a dog to control the stock the handler must first have control of the dog.  Jerry Rowe will explain the meaning of this phase by breaking the process down into simple steps using basic commands. These same commands will be built upon as the dog advances in its training.. Whether you are training for a competitive event, a farm dog, or a household pet, understanding the skills of training a herding dog will help you have better communication with your canine.     For over 50 years, Jerry Rowe has been developing a method for training dogs.
